The Sunshine Band is an auxiliary of the Women's Department in the Church of God in Christ, Inc. It was organized by the founder Bishop Charles H. Mason in 1911 for the purpose of ministering to and nurturing our children ages 12 and under. The first International Sunshine Band President was Mrs. Lydia E. Hinsley. Upon her transition in 1986, the tourch was passed to her granddaughter, Dr. Lytia R. Howard of Atlanta, Georgia, who is the current President. The Sunshine Band currently has chapters across denominational lines and is located throughout the United States and all over the world.The Sunshine Band teaches children about God; the love of God and God�s Son, Jesus; basic Bible concepts and knowledge; the basic rules of ministry; scriptures that provide a foundation for understanding, faith, love, grace, salvation and practical precepts for living holy and productive lives.

 

Through the Sunshine Band children have the opportunity to learn, lead, follow, teach, explore, display their talents, develop and grow under the prayerful leadership of local leaders. Activities are planned for each age group according to their physical, social, emotional and spiritual maturity. Our main endeavor is to �Bring Them In� from all walks of life to a victorious walk in Christ.
